Narrative

In a colorful village in the Himalayas, pregnant PEMA faces the controls as her husband goes missing. With her monk brother-in-law, her de facto husband, she searches for him in the wild, making her own discovery on the journey. Nepal is officially submitted as the best international feature film of 2025. Rarely does a film come along that manages to capture the human condition through regional history. This movie can evoke emotions from the audience only through visual effects.

Visual storytelling is so compelling

You don’t even need to understand the language or read subtitles. Plot Summary: The story follows our main character, Pam, who is married to 3 brothers at the start of the movie. The first thought someone from a privileged background might have is “how primitive”. But you can find out why by watching. The film follows her life in this village with the great Himalayas in the background.

Visuals: Everything Everyone’s Talking About

Their daily events and how ignorance affects their lives. I feel that it also reflects the true essence of the Eastern Dharma faith in a way that I have never seen before. Characters: Amazing characters with motivations and flaws. The performance of the main character is so enthralling that I was drawn to it throughout the filming and I couldn’t look back. From an innocent, bright-eyed girl to a man of strong convictions and confidence, her character is sophisticated and powerful.

Loved the use of color

Now I want that yellow sweater. The environment shots juxtaposed with the characters were amazing. I was thinking about Lawrence of Arabia though, and that movie could have used wider shots of the snow and mountains, maybe to describe the setting better. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. It’s a slow burn, so keep that in mind.
